In recent years, Veterinary Public Health (VPH), a specialty of veterinary medicine, has gained increased attention in the context of surveillance, control and prevention of diseases, as well as animal welfare related matters. In addition to these topics, diseases transmitted directly from animals or their products to humans (zoonoses) represent the most important working field in Veterinary Public Health. The Veterinary Public Health-Institute deals with selected topics from all these areas, through own research projects, consulting and teaching activities.
